State nature reserve of federal significance “Franz Josef Land” celebrates its birthday!

Exactly 21 year ago Russian government approved the reserve status of Franz Josef Land and the adjacent waters of the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean. Franz Josef Land is the northernmost land of our country, the main habitat for Polar bear, Atlantic walrus and many other mammals. Here one can find historical monuments of the Arctic exploration associated with the names of Fridtjof Nansen, Georgy Sedov and many other explorers.

Today nature reserve is managed by Russian Arctic National Park. Congratulations!
