"Arctic-2007" ("Russian polar expedition" Arctic-2007 ") - Russian research expedition to the North Pole, during which 2 August 2007 the world's first man reached the ocean floor at the North Pole.
The expedition was led by Artur Chilingarov.
The main goal was to prove that the Lomonosov Ridge is an extension of the Siberian continental platform - that is part of the territory of Russia.
It was enough evidence. In the spring of 2015 the United Nations plans to consider a request for extension of the boundaries of the Russian Arctic.
Also during the expedition was at the bottom of the flag of the Russian Federation.
