Cleanup on Bely Island

Cleanup on Bely Island

"General cleaning of the Arctic" continues! August 1st  the next "environmental force" will arrive at Bely Island. 20 people for 3 weeks will have to finish cleaning of the territory of the hydrometeorological station named after M. V. Popov and former military unit. If the cleanup will be completed ahead of time, volunteers will continue cleaning in the depths of the island.

Training sessions will take place in real-world conditions — in the mountains of the Polar Urals.

All necessary materials and equipment have already been delivered to the island by the members of the LLC “Arctic ecological expedition”.

There is also a research station built on the Island, it will be the basis for a scientific collaboration of scientists from the Institute of the Arctic and Antarctic and Tyumen State University.

Bely Island is located in the Kara Sea and separated from the mainland by the Strait Malygina. The island is a part of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous district.
